Though synonymous with cowboys, western style shirts actually originated south of the border. Mexican cattle herders known as vaqueros, wore pleated shirts called guayaberas that featured the trademark pointed yoke detail. After the Civil War, the style migrated up to America where cowboys slimmed the silhouette, made them in rugged denim, and added flashy hardware and embroidery to denote opulence. As the popularity of ranching and rodeos faded, a tamed version of the denim shirt went mainstream Americana with one crucial detain intact: pearl snaps. Our Frontier Western Shirts pay homage to the style's origins with an updated fit and 3% stretch denim that's stone-washed to perfection for a garment that's as comfortable as it is timeless.
